Shepperton - Home Office/Guest Room
Part office for a graphic designer and part sleepover/guest room. The studio has a fiberglass flat roof with a skylight in the roof, the cabin half is tiled in cedar with a dormer each side. Built to match the shape of the building behind it. The old cabin before it was more or less the same size and shape. Unfortunately it is flood plane and the old cabin suffered in the massive floods a few years ago. After it was repaired, disaster struck and the old cabin burnt down!
We built this building to replace the old structure and think we have made it more or less flood proof! The whole base has a strong DPM lining that wraps up the edges about 2 feet up the walls. This should stop rising water enough to be able to pump out under the cabin quicker than it can fill up. We will see if it works well enough when and if the area floods again.
